Patti lives in a world of, "I think I can," and "Oh
God! Please help me!" She grew up here in the Northwest: never too bright, but ever tenacious.
Patti graduated cum Laude from Seattle Pacific University with her Bachelors
in Music Theory & Literature while her children were in High School and Jr.
high. She continues her studies at the University of Washington and Seattle
Pacific University where she pops in to take a class every now and then. Her
delight is in music composition. Her family has been a tremendous
encouragement. When her two daughters got married
they both, in turn, asked her to write the music
for their weddings. Each chose a classical wedding fashioned after their
unique personalities. She has written other things, but with no audience to
listen, she put composition aside. With the encouragement of Maestro, Alexei
Girsh, and unrelenting guidance toward the right path from former professor,
Dr. Eric Hanson, she mustered the courage to write this, her first symphony.
She knows this is not the best she can do. But for now, it is where she is
at in her development. Many a student of hers has receive the response, "I
can't never did anything! But with a little, I think I can, and some effort on your part, you'll be amazed at what you can
do." Her delight is in seeing her piano and string students go further than
she ever could at their age. Little minds have
such great potential, and older ones have just as much if a person is
willing to take up the challenge. Special thanks go to Dr. David Martinez,
Professor Jerry Piger, Dr. Eric Hanson, husband, Phil Leng and Pastor Roy
Herzer for their influence and encouragement along the way. |
