Oksana Sitnitska was born in Ternopol', in the West Ukraine, on
October 9, 1971 into a family of school teachers.
From 1980 to
1985 she studied the class bandura, voice, and piano at the State
Music School. From 1986 to 1990 Oksana continued her musical
education at the State Music College in Ternopol', with focuses on
orchestral conducting, the bandura, and voice. From 1990 to 1997 she
studied in the vocal department at the State Music Academy of L'viv,
with professor Igor Kushpler.
Oksana obtained her BM in Vocal Arts, graduated with Honors and
began her career as an opera singer, chamber singer and coach of
vocal arts. From 1996 to 2004 Oksana worked as a permanent soloist
at the State Opera House of L'viv, performing in the following
operas: Fidalma in Cimaros'a Secret Marriage, Lola in
Caverleria Rusticana, Olga in Eugene Onegin, the title
role in Carmen, Rosina in Barber of Seville,
Amneris in Aida, and Fenena in Nabucco.
In 1999 she was awarded the III Prize at the Lucia Popp
International Vocal Competition in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2000
Oksana was accepted to graduate school at Dresden High Music Academy
in Germany, studio of Maestro Elsner. She attended the Music
Institute in Baden-Baden, Austria, studio of Dr. Eva Blagova. From
2000 to 2003 she held a position as a professor of Vocal Arts at the
State Music Academy in L'viv, Ukraine. Oksana had a contract with
Da Capo, the management company in Kufstein, Austria, from
2000 to 2004. She performed as an opera soloist in European Opera
Houses in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine,
and Beirut.
Oksana moved to America as a permanent resident in 2004, and is
looking forward to expanding her career in the United States.
