Jairo Geronymo started his Piano training at age
eight in Brazil where he graduated at "Conservatório Musical Carlos Gomes"
and "São Paulo State University" cum lauda. In 1988 Mr. Geronymo
became the resident pianist" of "New Horizons Ensemble"; a quintet
specialized in music of the 20th Century, and toured Brazil publicizing
Brazilian and international Contemporary Music.
In 1990, Mr. Geronymo moved to Arizona State University where he graduated
in the "Dean's Honor List" in 1992 obtaining a Master of Music in Piano
Performance Degree. During those two years in Arizona, Mr. Geronymo was
invited to perform with the "Orquestra Sinfonica Brasileira", “Hawaiian
Opera Theatre” and with members of Arizona Opera and Phoenix Symphony. A
winner of many competitions in Brazil and USA, Mr. Geronymo has also
performed with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, Arizona State
University Symphony Orchestra, University of Washington Symphony Orchestra,
the Mesa Symphony (Arizona), Youth Philharmonic Northwest, Northwest
Sinfonietta, Lake Union Civic Orchestra, Rainier Symphony, “Salao Nobre do
Conservatorio Gaia”, Portugal, and Johannesen International School of the
Arts in Victoria, Canada. Engagements for the 2002/3 season include the
Camas Ensemble, the Cascadian Wind Quintet and performances with Lake Union
Civic Orchestra and Eastside Symphony.
Mr. Geronymo currently is a Doctoral Candidate at the
University Of Washington in the studio of Craig Sheppard, and a Senior
Lecturer at Pacific Lutheran University. |
