Anna-Ruth Boyce, age 18, graduated from Kelsey Creek
Home School Center in June 2002. She has completed Year ll of Seattle
Conservatory of Music’s Academic and Chamber Music Programs. SCM has gifted
Anna-Ruth with a full scholarship for violin lessons, classes and chamber
music thru the Dorothy Richard Starling Violin Foundation. Anna-Ruth has
represented SCM on radio, in it’s Sunday at 7:00 Recital Series and will
make her Starling Violin Scholar debut at Benaroya’s Recital Hall, Friday,
May 30; Anna-Ruth began violin at age 5 with Suzanne Collette in the Suzuki
Program. She continued her studies with Leslie Johnson, Debra Zadinsky,
Scott Ligocki and Kim Zabelle. Anna-Ruth joined the Pressley Violin Studio
in September, 2001. She has served as Concertmaster of the Seattle Junior
Symphony and is presently Concertmaster of the Seattle Youth Symphony. She
has received Certificates of Merit in the Seattle Young Artist Music
Festival, was a 2001 Finalist in the American String Teacher Association
National Competition, and won 1st Place in the 2002 Simon-Fiset
High School Violin Competition. Anna-Ruth made her solo with her sister
Alyssa at age 10 with the Youth Philharmonic Northwest and since then she
has soloed with the Musicians Emeritus Orchestra and Eastside Symphonies.
Anna-Ruth has been invited by the Eastside Symphony to solo again with them
on June 7 and 8. She is looking forward to assisting Margaret Pressley this
summer at Indiana University Summer String Academy. Anna-Ruth will begin
her college applications this fall, pursuing a career as a professional
violinist. |
