At four years old Alison Mayfield began to play the violin and doesn’t
remember life without it. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of
Utah in 1997 with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. It was there
she studied with Gerald Elias, the associate concertmaster of the Utah
Symphony. A department scholar, she was a member of Utah Philharmonia, Utah
Chamber Orchestra, and concertmaster of the University Symphony Orchestra. A
winner of various awards, she was featured as soloist with the Utah Chamber
Orchestra as a winner of the 1995 concerto competition. She was a substitute
violinist for the Utah Symphony, has played with many quartets and
ensembles, and enjoyed teaching private violin lessons both in Utah and
locally at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts. Today Alison spends
most of her time with her husband, Paul, and three children Sammy, Kate, and
Claire. She resides in Sammamish, and is always looking for new
opportunities to play the music she loves. |
